Qualifications:
Valid Missouri Teacher’s certificate and secondary Principal's certificate
At least 5 years of successful teaching and/or administrative and/or coaching experience
Successful experience working with school activities and school district facilities
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate to the scope of the position

Position Overview: The School District of Washington is seeking an Activities Director to oversee the development, implementation, and administration of all athletic programs and extracurricular activities grades seven through twelve. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership skills, effective oral and written communication skills, high level organizational skills, and the ability to lead multiple stakeholder groups to consensus. This position has a key role in fostering a positive and safe environment for students, staff, and the community. This position's salary ranges from $83,030 up to $112,602 depending on experience.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight for District athletic programs and student activities.
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and MSHSAA policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
- Coordinate scheduling, facilities, transportation, and supervision for athletic events and activities.
- Manage the athletic department budget, including purchasing equipment and ensuring proper maintenance of facilities.
- Foster positive relationships with coaches, staff, students, parents, and the community.
- Promote sportsmanship and leadership among student-athletes and activity participants.
- Collaborate with coaches to support student-athlete development, including academic progress and personal growth.
- Oversee hiring, evaluation, and professional development of coaching and activities staff.
- Act as a liaison between the school, parents, and community, ensuring effective communication.
- Support and attend athletic events and extracurricular activities, ensuring proper supervision and safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required for District operations.
Other Related Responsibilities:
- Maintains appropriate personnel records for all school employees under his/her direct supervision
- Attend all conferences and workshops necessary to maintain and enhance knowledge in areas of general responsibility.
- Attends board meetings and prepares such reports as the Superintendent or Board of Education may require.
- Serves as a liaison with social, professional, civic, volunteer and other community agencies and groups having an interest in the schools as directed by the Superintendent.
- Maintains confidential nature of all school related material.
- Schedules and coordinates associated calendars, required personnel, record keeping, inspections, etc. associated with the execution of department events.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month position with applicable health and ancillary insurance, annual vacation, and paid leave. Starting salary established by the Board of Education is $83,000 to $93,000 depending on experience.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and well-being of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
