We are currently seeking a School Nurse for Marthasville Elementary. This is a 9 month position and it 35 hours per week. The pay range varies dependent on licenses held and experience. POSITION SUMMARY (Primary purpose of job)
Nurses are responsible for providing school health services to students in order to maintain an environment conducive to learning.
SPHERE AND SCOPE OF INFLUENCE (Supervisory scope, district impact and budgetary responsibility)
Nurses are responsible for supervising students, consulting and/or implementing District Individualized Education Programs, Section 504 individualized plans, and individualized health plans when required. Input and collaboration toward these efforts is critical as well as communicating with parents, patrons, and other stakeholders to advance the District vision, mission, and goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Major duties which the position exists to perform)
- Develop, implement, and provide consultation within legal timelines and fully compliant with local, state, and federal law and policies as required with respect to individualized student health care needs within the school setting.
- Conducts comprehensive assessments evaluating the health and developmental status of a student in order to make a nursing diagnosis and establish a priority for any action taken. This includes assisting student and their families to achieve a greater degree of self-sufficiency in addressing health issues.
- Provide a variety of substantial responsive services to address pressing and emerging needs in order to develop and maintain an extensive school system of support.
- Maintains accurate records in accordance with timelines including individual student records, immunization records, action reports, inventories, employee incident intake forms, and building/department records associated with this role.
- Actively engages as a member of a team including but not limited to, student teams, building or department teams, focus groups, and/or District teams. The Nurse continually and consistently collaborates with educators and other professionals from both within and outside the school community in a systematic way.
- Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, harassment, etc. as directed by Board Policy and otherwise required by law.

OTHER DUTIES (duties which the incumbent can be expected to perform)
- Additional duties necessary to supervise students, monitor events, or assist in an emergency situation.
- Attend building events such as open houses, curriculum night, informational meetings, and events designed to bring the public into the District.
- Occasional or sporadic duties such as taking tickets at an event, participating on an interview committee, covering a duty of a colleague, etc.
- Participate in professional development activities and/or curriculum work outside of the typical school work day and/or school calendar.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise students at all times and/or as directed by supervisor
Supervise events as described above and/or directed by supervisor
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Minimum educational requirements, licenses, skills and experience required as well as preferred options)
LPN license and CPR certification required. RN and/or degree preferred.
